World Whiskey Day

It’s the weekend, but for anyone needing a nudge to get out on the town, it’s also World Whiskey Day today. World Whiskey Day is intended to help us celebrate the best whiskey in the world but here in Belfast, we don’t need to look too far afield for inspiration. Not only are we home to some of the best venues in the world, our home-grown whiskey is considered the best by local and international experts alike.

Bushmills Irish Whiskey has been handcrafting whiskey for over 400 years, and is one of the first distilleries in the world to make both single malt and blended Irish whiskey. The iconic distillery knows a thing or two about a quality whiskey serve and has compiled a list of five unpredictable Belfast venues to sample and toast Northern Ireland’s influence on the world whiskey stage tomorrow.

The Gallery Dublin Rd, Belfast

Officially opened this week, you may not have checked out the ground-floor space of ‘Belfast’s newest masterpiece’. So why not let your first visit be tonight? The team at The Gallery appreciate the finer things in life, from quality design to fine art to Irish whiskey. Ask the bartenders for the venue’s most impressive signature serve, Black Bush finely combined with port syrup and soda and dressed with a flavoursome and intensely fruity burnt orange peel.

APOC1 Goose Entry, Belfast

Owner Anthony Farrell and his expert team have brought the Irish whiskey experience to another level with their marriage of stimulating Black Bush serves and the secretive, speak-easy feel of this secluded venue. On arrival, the bartenders will chat you through your preferences and create a serve that appeals to your unique tastes, whether it bea classic like an Old Fashioned or something a little more adventurous, locally produced Black Bush with its rich fruity notes and deep, intense character is versatile enough to please all asks.

The Filthy Quarter Belfast

The Filthy Quarter will host the first ever Black Bush Block Party on May 28. The event will be an explosion of creative energy saluting the fearless, the spirited and the defiant and will offer urban revellers the opportunity to enjoy Black Bush inspired street food, specially-created Black Bush serves, live art demonstrations and a pop-up barber shop experience.

The Black Box 18-22 Hill St, Belfast

Five point belfast

Five Points – 44 Dublin Rd, Belfast

Whilst all the whiskey serves are worth a try, you might as well ‘go big or big home’ here so give Tammany Hall a whirl - Black Bush masterfully paired with an IPA reduction and premium sherry with whiskey barrel bitters, sage and Bay Leaf Tincture to complement this serve’s fruitful base flavours.
