A driver has been left badly shaken following a hijacking in Belfast city centre.

The male victim was pulled from his van on Maryville Street just after 9pm last night.

Detective Sergeant Duffield said: “We received a report just before 9.10pm that a driver who had stopped in the Maryville Street area had been pulled from his van by a male. The suspect then drove off in the van, hitting a parked car and wall along the way.

“The white Renault Trafic was found abandoned a short time later, at around 9.45pm, on Carlow Street in north Belfast.

“The victim, while not physically injured, has been left badly shaken.

“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1849 of 15/05/20.”
